Party Hearty

So what are your plans for New Year’s Eve? Any parties goin’ on?

One of my favorite types of “party food” is an all-appetizer menu. Seriously. You know, some of the best food in the world is contained under the appetizer menu. It also tends to be pretty fattening, but hey…it’s New Year’s Eve. The new year with all of the resolutions is still a day away! 😉

So today, I want to make your mouth water for some fabulous appetizers. So if you’re hosting or going to a party on Saturday, you’ll be completely prepared. If you’re staying home, why not make one of these recipes for your family and ring in the new year with some fabulous new tastes? Either way – one of these apps is sure to please.

Take 1: Cranberry Cream Cheese Spread

I talked about making this dip in my Christmas Menu post. I made it. And it was super good – like cranberry salsa over a nice thick layer of cream cheese good. I will say this – I put mine on a regular dinner plate and within 15 minutes the cranberry salsa was leaking all over my fridge. When I make it again (not if), I will put it in a dish with a side…like a pie plate or something. That way it may leak but nobody has to know about it.

Take 2: 4 Cheese Tomato Slices

Ummm…yeah. That picture looks nasty. I realize that. This picture will never make it on pinterest. haha. unless, of course, as an example of bad photography. Actually I was working on this post and commented about how nasty this pic looked. My hubby glanced over and said, “ewwww! oh, that’s your picture?”

😉 haha.

Anyway, despite the fact that the picture is kinda nasty, these tomato slices are fantastic and would be a fabulous addition to any meal. In my humble opinion.

Take 3: Carrabba’s Bread Dipping Spices

via Macaroni & Cheesecake

Take a crusty loaf of bread and put it out with this dip. People will love you and kiss your feet.

Take 4: Mozzarella Pepperoni Bread

You can make this for an appetizer…or else if you’re staying home just make it for dinner. Yumminess plain and simple.

Take 5: Pepperoni Pizza Puffs

via RachaelRayMag.com

Oh yum. These look fabulous too. A perfect little bite of pizza. Or 2 or 3 bites…depending on how large your mouth is + how many people are around. If you’re alone in the kitchen…1 large bite. If you’re on your first date with a guy you really like…4 bites – while leaving a little bit on your plate at the end. (hahaha…this coming from the girl who hardly ate anything during the first meals with my future hubby because I was so nervous. yea for half-finished salads. don’t worry – I would make mac&cheese as soon as I got back to my dorm room. no weight-loss happening here… no sirree.)

Take 6: Buffalo Chicken Dip

FRANK'S® REDHOT® BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP

My friend makes this dip and it is fantastic. This particular recipe is made with Frank’s Red Hot sauce. Cheesy, chicken-y, spicy…and it tastes great with celery sticks. This is about the only way I eat celery sticks. Not a big fan of the peanut butter thing goin’ on with celery sticks. 😛

So those are some of my top recommendations for appetizers. If you decide to make them, feel free to invite me over. 😉 Actually, I’ll be picking my sister and her family up at the airport on New Year’s Eve. They are flying in from a month-long trip in the Philippines and I’m so excited to see them and hear about their time!

I’ll be back on Friday to share my book list for 2012. Looking forward to it!!
