Monogram Glitter Ornament

Home for the Holidays - DIY series featuring 5 talented bloggers!

I hope you’re enjoying this special Christmas series – “Home for the Holidays” as much as I am! Christina kicked things off with a nearly free Grapevine & Evergreen wreath and yesterday Angie created beautiful Christmas Mirror Art!

Today, I’m excited to show you how you can make a lovely Monogram Glitter Ornament out of cardboard.

Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Ornament - & it's made out of an old shoebox!

I was inspired by this gorgeous ornament from Pottery Barn & decided to attempt a DIY version.
Here are the materials I used:

  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • mod podge {or some type of glue/sealer}
  • glitter
  • hole punch
  • twine/ribbon

Grab a piece of cardboard. I used part of a small shoebox.

Trace out a letter. Clearly I free-handed this. I never pretend to be good at free-handing.

Cut out your letter.

Using mod podge {or whatever type of glue you want}, brush a thin layer over the cardboard.

Sprinkle glitter on the letter.

Repeat on the other side.
You’ll probably want to use mod podge or another type of sealer on top of the glitter so you don’t glitter-ify everything the letter touches.

Use a hole punch to make a hole(s) in your letter.

Using twine or ribbon, tie a loop in each hole of the letter.

And that’s it!

You can use the letters as ornaments or string a word/phrase together for a garland. Any way you use them, they’re sure to add some sparkly loveliness to your home!
