5 Words that Calm My Anxiety

5 words that help calm my anxiety

As you head into a busy holiday season and look ahead to a new year, maybe your mind feels like it’s in overdrive.
Maybe it’s felt like that for a long time.

I have an incredibly active imagination and can easily fill my mind with a myriad of “what if” thoughts. Before I know it, my mind and heart are racing and I feel an incredible amount of building anxiety, suffocating any bit of joy and peace I thought I had.

When that scenario happens (as it did just this morning),
there are five words that help refocus my mind and calm my anxious heart:

God will be with me.

Do you know why these five words calm my anxious heart? Here are two reasons:

  1. It’s God’s truth, not mine.
I didn’t make these words up to make me feel better. God said it first & I’m just repeating it!

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). Those are words worth repeating all throughout the day!

  2. These words only change me if I BELIEVE them!
Do you know the litmus test of belief? Change!

The book of James in the Bible has a whole lot to say about this, but here it is in a (very small) nutshell:
if you truly believe the word of God, it changes everything about you.

Put a different way: if it doesn’t change you, you don’t believe it.

Even if my “what if” scenarios come true, God will be with me in them. His presence is full joy, lasting peace, and true comfort.

โœจHE IS MORE REAL THAN MY FEARS.โœจ

My friend, you can believe God’s Word more than your worries.
And if you do that, you will find that he has perfectly calmed your anxious heart. โค๏ธ
