Gallery Wall Take #2

Many moons ago, I had a large blank wall in my dining room.

One day, I decided to change that. And so I began hanging pictures.

I started with 1 big picture.

And then I kept hanging more pictures around it. I didn’t have a major plan or sketch. I thought about doing that, but decided it would take too much time. Besides, anyone who knows me knows I’m not a perfectionist. Like, at all. So, I was okay with the wall not being perfect in order to save myself some drawing/sketching time.

In order to help you feel like you were present when I created this wall, I have made a small animation for you. If you get to a point where you want to yell, “Stop! Just stop hanging pictures!! It looks horrible!” then…well, I’m sorry. I suppose my mad picture hanging skillz have that effect on some people. {*wink, wink*…major sarcasm used in that previous sentence}

I also apologize for the wide array of lighting/angles in the animation. Those pictures were clearly not all taken in the same hour. Or day. Or month, even. That’s how I roll.

In case your mind is reeling from the animation, here’s a shot of the final product {with my kitchen curtains showing in the reflection. #classy}:

There are 2 things I love about this wall:

1. It’s personal. I love having personal wall art. In fact, almost everything on my walls is either a family picture, something I made (like my DIY canvas, flower art in my guest room and Anna Grace’s room, sunburst mirror), or something someone else made for me (like the cross-stitch picture from my Grandma). If it can be beautiful & personal, I’m sold!

2. It’s “changeable.” As much as I dislike re-hanging pictures in my home, I love having the ability to update pics as my kids change and grow. Most of the pics on my wall are ones I’ve taken, but I always like to have at least 1 family pic {usually in the center frame}.

So, that’s a wrap! How about you? What type of art do you hang on your walls?
