O yes, I did.
Several weeks ago, Jonathan and I were about to get in some Scrabble action. And I’m always a fan of having special food/drink during special events. Inspired by this pin {thanks, Amanda!}, I decided to whip up some hot chocolate. But not just any hot chocolate – toasted marshmallow hot chocolate.
Here’s how I did it – and how you can make this your own:
1. Make your favorite hot cocoa in an oven-safe mug.
2. Top that baby with marshmallows. Any kind of marshmallows will work – small, large, flavored, etc. Just make sure they’re lying relatively flat.
3. After moving your oven rack to the broil position, turn the oven to the “broil” setting. {Mine has a high & low setting – I set it to High.} Place a cookie sheet on your oven rack and carefully place the mug of hot chocolate on top.
Keep your oven door opened just a teensy crack so you can see when the marshmallows have been sufficiently roasted. Mine are usually done after 20-25 seconds. Depending on the intensity of your broiler, yours may take a bit longer.
When your marshmallows are looking just about perfect, grab an oven mitt and pull the mug from the oven.
Drink it all and go make yourself another cup.
