My Need for Curb Appeal

For the past 3 weeks now, we’ve been doing a Curb Appeal {on the cheap} series. I had a ridiculously good time putting that series together because I found so much inspiration during my preparation! I hope you’ve loved it as much as I have!

CollageIf you missed any of the 6 steps from that series, click here for a recap!

During that series, I think I made some sort of ridiculous promise to show you the outside of my home? Yeah. Ridiculous. Because, during the entire series, I got to show you gorgeous inspirational pics of other people’s homes. And that’s always fun – both to show and to view.

However, I’m going to keep my end of the bargain today.

Here’s the real reason I did the curb appeal series: because I need it.

Now, to give you a little background – we rent this house. We are not in a position to put a ton of $$ into things such as new windows, sidewalks, brickwork, etc. However, there are a lot of areas that could be improved simply by spending hard work + time outside.

A couple months ago, I started surveying our front yard to see what I would change if I could. I made a mental list of things that would cost money & another list of things that would take time + work but no $.

And then I started talking to Jonathan about it. My reasoning: we’ve lived in this house for 2 years. Plans can always change, but we have zero plans of leaving anytime soon. Why not put time & work into it to spruce things up?

My amazing husband thought it was a great idea. And he made my passion his passion. For the past 2 months, we’ve spent many an hour outside. Both of us working after he gets off of work. Me working in the morning while the kids play – taking frequent breaks to keep Nate from running into the middle of the road. #ExcitingTimes
We’ve even gone so far as to use sacred Saturday mornings to get things done.

And so today, I’m showing you the before pictures. Clearly.

But I can’t end this post with all those bleah pictures, so here’s a cute shot of Anna Grace that I snapped in between getting these before pictures.

AG

When did she get so big??

Come back on Monday to see some of the “after” pics! It’s nothing earth shattering or anything, but – ya know – things are much improved from what they were in April.

Anyone have any outside projects goin’ on? Tell me all about it!
