Happy Monday! I promised I would share some of my ideas for the guest room and so today I will do just that.
First of all, here are two pictures that completely inspired me to go for the dark blue paint color:
Gotta admit – that color is gorgeous. I love the moody blue and the black & white pillows.
This pic is from John & Sherry’s house and is actually their guest room as well:
Now, the bed in my room doesn’t have a headboard, so I’m planning to make my own. See the pic above? They made that headboard and it seriously doesn’t look hard at all. The big decision here is where to place the bed in the room. I have two options:
1. either under a window but with room on each side for a small nightstand
or
2. against the 1 blank wall with practically no room to put even 1 nightstand (unless I make my guest squeeze out of the bed between a small space of nightstand and wall).
The thing I’m debating is the headboard. If I put the bed against the window-ed wall, there won’t be much space for a headboard, plus if anyone wants to sit up in bed, they’ll be sitting up against the window ledge.
I should take pictures and show you to let you cast your vote.
Anyone have a brainstorm idea right now? I’m up for it… ๐
Now, as for the other colors in the room, here’s what I’m thinking right now:
Navy blue and yellow.
Straight from nature.
Could there be anything more beautiful?
As you can tell, I’m pretty smitten right now with this color combination.
See this white couch against the dark blue walls?
I’m planning to do white bedding to balance out the dark paint. That will give me a clean slate to use lots of color too. Because while I’m loving the yellow with the dark blue, I’m also loving this:
and this:
See all those gorgeous bright colors in the pillows? Against the white couch they really pop. LOVE that.
As for other pieces in the room, I’m loving this mirror idea (but in a different color):
and I’m pretty sure I want to do a geometric-patterned rug – maybe something like this:
or this:
or even this:
The jury is still out on that decision.
As far as other furniture in the room, there won’t be room for much – especially once I have a pack&play in there for little man. (No, we still haven’t picked out a name for him. For now we’re calling him Buster.)
So that’s it for now! Don’t you love looking at pictures of beautiful things? It is so inspiring to me!
If you have any brainstorms or thoughts about the color scheme, I’m glad to hear them. If you don’t like it, that’s okay and I’m not offended. That’s why you have your own house to decorate. ๐ heehee.
that’s what makes us all individuals, right?
Until next time…

Thanks so much! I really love looking at these pics for inspiration!
Love the clothespin mirror! That is too cool! While the color is a tad dark for my tastes, I do love all the inspiration you pulled! The white bedding with colorful pillows will be very nice!
thanks, Laine! I can’t decide between going with predominantly yellow as my accent color or going with lots of bright colors. hmmm…decisions, decisions… ๐
I love the colors! The pic from Young House Love also inspired me to want to do navy in our guest room/Levi’s room. We still haven’t done a thing to it though. The walls need some sanding and other prep done. We also have the same predicament with where to put the bed. We don’t have that many guests, so I think the bed is going to end up beside the wall so we have more space for Levi’s dresser and crib.
Definitely…right now I can make it more for guests but once this baby comes, I may have to rearrange some things to make it more workable for Mom & baby! (but especially Mom) ๐
