Several months ago, a friend of ours moved away to New Jersey. She was on her way to donate some home decor items and asked if I wanted to shop her car before she left. One of the things inside her lovely “car shop” was this large 2′ x 4′ picture. When she asked Jonathan if we wanted it he said, “no, thanks.” Little did he know…this lovely piece of art was going to be assimilated into our family.
I set to work on it one afternoon.
First, I popped the “Swan Lake” brass plate off the front.
When I flipped it over, I found this paper backing across the back.
After I tore it away, I was left with a host of heavy duty staples. Oh joy. They came out pretty easily, though, just by shoving my screwdriver in the opening. I did, however, need to employ some chocolate to help me get the job done.
I grabbed some black paint and gave it a couple coats.
My goal for this frame was to use it as a picture display. Originally, I thought about stretching some sort of twine across the sides. But then I remembered this black embroidery thread leftover from another project and I decided to use it instead. I used 2 sections of thread and stapled both ends to the back of the frame.
Then I printed out some of our favorite pictures and attached them with mini clothespins {I found these mini black ones at Hobby Lobby}.
Voila!
This hangs in the hallway near our guest room.
One of my favorite things is that it’s super easy to update the photos.
Or I could even switch pictures out for my kids’ artwork or any of the cute printables floating around the web, like this free one I just found!
For now, it’s just pictures of my wonderful fam. I kinda like it. And I kinda love them too.
Happy weekending to you!
