Come to Jesus Release Day: Who is This Book For?

Today is the launch day for Come to Jesus. That means that (as of this morning) you can hop on to Amazon and either buy a paperback copy or have an e-book immediately delivered to your e-reader. But before you do that, I want to answer this question:

Who is Come to Jesus for?

Is it for you? Maybe.

It might be if you ever find yourself in one of these situations:

You are going through something difficult and wonder why God put it in your life.

Your heart feels restless with the daily struggles of your day, and you can’t seem to find relief.

You’ve heard that God is a good God, but can’t reconcile that with the things he’s allowed in your life.

You know you should come to Jesus, but you don’t want to—and you can’t figure out why.

You wonder whether you’ve done something to upset God because it seems like he keeps tossing trials your way.

You always feel like you need a break from the pressures of life,
but when you finally get away, it doesn’t seem to help.

You get the sense that God is upset with you, so why would you come to him with your deepest hurts?

If you find yourself in one of the above situations, then Come to Jesus is for you.

The reason God gave me the burden to write this book is because I live where you live. I struggle with the same thoughts and unbeliefs you do. My response to trials is not to automatically throw my hands up in praise to the Lord for another difficult situation. That’s why I had to write this book. Come to Jesus is a reminder to me (and maybe to you too?) that God doesn’t place difficulties in my life in order to make my life difficult. Rather, he gives them to me because he wants me to give them back to him. He wants me to come running back to him in desperation and brokenness, realizing once again that I cannot live my life without Jesus.

I wrote this book because I want to remind you that a life lived apart from Christ is miserable.

I wrote this book because I want to remind you that—unlike the message the world screams at you—real, honest-to-goodness joy is only found when you say no to yourself and say yes to Christ.

I wrote this book because I want to let you in on a secret: You don’t have to go anywhere to experience rest. True rest is not found on a remote island or a mountaintop resort, but in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I wrote this book because I want you to remember that while running to your friends, your spouse, or social media with your latest hardships may provide a temporary feeling of being understood and receiving empathy, it’s only when you run to Jesus with them that you find One who truly understands. He is not a Father “who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

I wrote this book because I want you to respond to trials with the knowledge that God allowed this because he loves you with the constant, faithful love of a perfect Father in pursuit of his wayward child’s heart.

I wrote this book because I want you to stop running from him when your heart is hurting.

I wrote this book because I want you to come to Jesus.

Is Come to Jesus for you?
Maybe.

If it is, you can find it here.
If it’s not, would you join me in praying that God would use the message of this book to draw hearts to Jesus Christ?
