The Handbuilt Home by Ana White :: Book Review & GIVEAWAY!

When I first heard about The Handbuilt Home, I was pretty excited to get my hands on a copy. Unfortunately, I heard about it before it was even published, so I had to put my patience into practice.

I contacted Random House Publishers and asked if they could send me 2 books – 1 for me to review & 1 for you. They said YES!!

Written by Ana White {a momma!}, The Handbuilt Home is all about how to make your own furniture – everything from beds to chairs to tables. First of all, if you’ve never checked out Ana’s site, you must. It is seriously inspiring and full of *FREE* building plans! {She also made a book trailer video – you can watch it here.}

One of the things I loved about The Handbuilt Home is how Ana makes things simple – even for people who have never built anything in their life. {I’m talking about myself here.} She takes the first section of the book to talk about tools, equipment, materials for building, and what you need in a work space. The second section is devoted to basic building techniques, such as preparation, cutting, building, and finishing. By the time I finished reading these sections, I already felt a lot more confident approaching home improvement stores!

At the moment, I don’t have plans to build furniture for my home, but I already have some pages dog-eared for future building projects. My favorite projects are the Console Table & Gallery Ledges. I can totally see a big ol’ gallery ledge going up on my wall. And how awesome would it be to see it and brag to everyone who sees know I made it ALL BY MYSELF?! Awesome indeed.

Whether you’re planning a building project or just interested in home decor, I am sure you will love reading through this book. That’s why I asked Random House if they would be so kind as to give one to you! Just enter using the giveaway below {if you’re reading this via email, click on over to my site to enter!}.

Happy entering!

    I’d love to have this book! I’ve followed now for almost a year and finally got a Kreg jig! So far I’ve built a couple of ledges and a 3 bin shoe dresser… both still unpainted.

    I wish I had a real workshop! What fun!

    Thank you for thinking of us!

    Merry Christmas to you and yours,
    Bara
