Spruce It Up

Spring is a time for change.

Oh but wait – it’s not springtime yet.

No matter – change can happen no matter what date it is. If you follow Brown Sugar Toast in a reader or by e-mail, you probably haven’t noticed the change that’s been taking place on the site. There have been several things recently, so here’s the post where I explain what’s going on.

First of all – the header.

If you visit my actual site, this is old news. It’s old news because I never got around to posting about it. Boo on me.

But right after Christmas, my dear husband told me he wanted to design a header for me. (I had asked him to consider it because I’m horrible at things like that. As you can tell from my previous headers. {blush})

I immediately took him up on the offer. After hours of work (mostly his, not mine), he presented me with a header that I l-o-v-e.

See how pretty?

He drew that piece of toast. He’s a pretty cool guy. And not just because he designed my header.

In other news, some of you read my site via your phone or ipod. Over the weekend I made a change that I hope makes it easier for you to read & navigate my site. Instead of seeing my full site, now you see this:

If you want to search my site, just click on the little arrows at the top:

And then the menu will expand to look like this:

If you prefer to view the full site on your mobile device, just scroll to the bottom and click on the “View Full Site” option:

I hope you enjoy my arrows and circles. Did you know I was an art major in college? I had to change majors after the first day because I didn’t know how to draw a circle.

Well, no, that’s actually a lie.

The art major part – not the not-knowing-how-to-draw-circles part.

So, that completes my little tour. I also experimented with truncating my posts. That means, there were a couple weeks when my posts showed up on the site in their shortened form rather than as a full post. But I changed that because I thought it seemed a little annoying. Was it? Are you glad I changed it?

If you have any suggestions of ways that would make the site easier for you to navigate, give me a holler.

How about the mobile site? Love it? Hate it?

Speak to me.

(By the way, I know I don’t normally post on the weekends, but I will be sharing my photo challenge pic(s) tomorrow, so make sure to stop in! Theme : Cabin Fever.)

    Hey Christa,

I really like how you have organized your site (up on the top). It makes it easy to refer back to a particular article. I need to learn how to do this for mine. It is great to have a computer savvy husband :). He did a great job with the header design. I have not really had a hard time navigating through your site but if something comes up I’ll let you know:).

    Keep up the good work.
