Sicky Wicky

I spent yesterday with a bunch of close friends.

We just chilled on the couch together all day.

And by *chilled* I mean that in the literal sense of the word.

I managed to take a picture of all my friends gathered in one spot:

Oh my, what a shame. Looks like I didn’t make it in the pic.
Picture this: sweatpants-clad, hacking, glasses-wearing mom. Highly attractive, no?

Yes, I spent much of my day yesterday cozied up on the couch with the friends pictured above. I used to be the type who would not take meds and would just try to fight my cold with natural methods. Not anymore. Things have changed now that I have 2 little kiddos in my home. I still take Emergen-C at the first sign of sickness. And I drink hot tea with honey even if I don’t feel sick. But now I take meds too. The sooner I can feel 100%, the better.

Where’s the blessing in all of this? There are several:

1. Yesterday was an off day for Nate too. That means he slept most of the morning and part of the afternoon.
2. Anna Grace played quietly in the morning so I could rest on the couch {well, she played quietly except for while she was sitting on top of me & singing her lungs out.}
3. My hubby is the most understanding man in the world. Telling me to take it easy and not have any expectations. He knows me too well.
4. This sickness makes me appreciate my health a lot more. Seriously, I rarely get sick. And when I do, it’s usually something that goes away in a day or two.

So, although I wouldn’t choose to be sick, I’m thankful for the blessings the Lord gave during {and because of} this sickness.

  1. Hey christa, so sorry that you are sick, but I had to let you know that your Gaston mug made smile. :)Thanks for your series…it has been a good challenge to me to be thankful each day. Feel better!

  2. Bless your heart. Hope that you bounce back quickly. It’s definitely not fun when mama is sick. (I was sick with a stomach bug on our first day of school-talk about poor timing!) Take care!

  3. awww – hope you feel better! When I was working and even now, I use to LOVE sick days! 🙂 I know I don’t have kids so it is a little easier. But a day to lay on the couch and blow my nose and cough and watch tv, and read and surf Pinterest ALL day without feeling guilty was wonderful 😉
