Curb Appeal: Colored Pillows

Hello there!

I told you on Monday {when I showed you my freshly painted chairs!} that I had something new that added a POP o’ color to my front porch. Here’s a sneak peek:

Eeee!!! I can’t get over the gorgeous bright colors goin’ on there!!

So, it all started when I was at Ikea with Molly & Christina. Here I am with Christina in front of our beloved Ikea:

{I definitely stole this picture from her. Shhh…}

One of my favorite spots is the “As-Is” section. Sometimes it’s all just weird-o parts that I have no idea where they go, but other times you can find some awesome stuff! When I saw 2 of these pillow covers in the fabric bin, I snatched them up to see how much $$ they were asking.

Oh yes – $2.50? I think I just might have to take these guys home with me. Besides, I figured I was doing pretty well if I left Ikea having only spent 5 bucks, right?

One of the things that sold me was that both pillows had zippers. Score!

The pillow covers are super big – 20″ x 20″ – and I didn’t have inserts that would fit. So, what do you do when you don’t have pillow inserts?
You make them.

Or, in my case – you ask your friends if they have any pillows or stuffed animals they want to donate to a worthy cause. And because my friends are nice and all, they said yes. Here are the pillows preparing to sacrifice their lives for the greater good of home decor.

And here I am, about to ruthlessly pull the stuffing out of them. Heartless, I tell ya.

It was so crazy simple. Pull the stuffing out of 1 pillow and stuff it into the new pillow covers. Zip it up & Voila. You’ve got yourself 2 brand spankin’ new pillows.

And here they are, sittin’ pretty on my exotic sea chairs:

Yum. That’s what I think every time I drive in.

before and after3

On Monday, I will stop showing you sneakity peekity’s of my front porch and will show you the big before & after pictures.
I hope you’ll be impressed. Maybe you can at least pretend to be, ok? That way we’ll all be happy.

These look amazing. I never thought to even go through the As-Is section of our Ikea. By the time I get to it I’m pretty tired. lol

I’ll be stopping there first now!
